Jaafar Jackson, son of Jermaine Jackson has been selected to star as his uncle Michael in the upcoming biopic titled “Michael”. The 26 year old who is a singer in his own right said he was “humbled & honoured” to bring his uncle Michael’s story to life.
The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, whose previous work includes Training Day, The Equalizer and the impactful Emancipation.
The screenplay will come from John Logan, who wrote scripts for blockbuster films such as Gladiator and Skyfall.
The production team of the film includes co-executors of the Michael Jackson Estate, John Branca and John McClain plus English producer Graham King OBE, who has previously been involved with the highly rated and successful Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
Speaking on the announcement Michael Jackson’s mother & Jaafar’s grandmother Katherine Jackson, said, “Jaafar embodies my son. It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers.”
