Today marks the 11th anniversary of the death of the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson.
As we are currently living in troubled & confusing times with the pandemic Covid-19, social & racial issues, the music & messages that Michael recorded over his lifetime are still as relevant today as when he first recorded them.
Heal The World became the anthem when the pandemic Covid-19 spread worldwide as people looked for hope with thousands losing lives & fighting an horrific disease, after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota we have seen people rise up & the Black Lives Matter movement has brought worldwide protests as people of all ethnicities are coming together demanding change for black people in the way they are treated in society as a whole. This has seen Michael’s – They Don’t Care About Us become the anthem for change, 25 years after it was first released on the HIStory album.
As we pass another anniversary it is now important more than ever to listen to the messages that Michael Jackson had in his songs, he highlighted all these issues 25 years ago but 25 years later we are still seeing these same issues such as racism & police brutality towards a black man, something which Michael himself had suffered during the FBI investigations.
I really hope we are finally going to see change & how fitting would it be to have the king’s music at the forefront.
Wherever you are in the world today, I hope you stay safe, follow the Covid-19 guidelines & continually to peacefully push for change & equality.
Rest Easy King.
